Myszka Półnutka przechadzała się po parku. Miała zwieszony nosek i niechętnie kopała żołędzia, który wpadł pod jej nogi.

-Nadszedł czas, by wrócić do przedszkola!- zawołała donośnym głosem pani Wiolina.

-Półnutko- nauczycielka położyła dłoń na jej ramieniu- co się stało?

-Słonik ma fortepian, prosiaczek- flet, a dla mnie każdy instrument jest za duży… Myszka rozpłakała się na dobre. 

-Kochana, muzyka jest i dla dużych, i dla małych istot. Instrumentów jest tak wiele, że każdy może znaleźć wśród nich ten jedyny, odpowiedni dla siebie.

Myszka przetarła oczy rękawem swetra i razem z pozostałymi przeszła do królestwa pani Wioliny, to jest sali muzycznej. 

Nauczycielka zajrzała do wielkiej szafy pełnej instrumentów i wyciągnęła z niej niezwykły przedmiot...

-Skacząca pchła!- powiedziała z błyskiem w oku pani Wiolina- tak brzmi nazwa małej gitary o czterech strunach, którą widzicie. Inaczej: UKULELE.

-Ale śmieszna nazwa! Skąd w ogóle wziął się ten instrument? Czy możemy go dotknąć? – dzieci przekrzykiwały się nawzajem.

-UKULELE pochodzi z Hawajów. Gdy Hawajczycy po raz pierwszy zobaczyli muzyka grającego na tej małej gitarze, to stwierdzili, że przebiera palcami tak szybko, jak skacząca pchła (w ich języku-UKULELE). Ten egzemplarz jest wyjątkowy, bo wykonany ze specjalnego rodzaju drewna – *KOA.

Pani Wiolina wręczyła instrument Półnutce.

-Czy to dla mnie?- wzruszona myszka uśmiechnęła się od ucha do ucha

-Wyjątkowy instrument powinien trafić do wyjątkowej osoby.

*KOA to gatunek akacji, rosnący głównie na Hawajach.

Little Minim, the Mouse was strolling. She was chopfallen and she reluctantly was kicking an acorn that fell under her feet.

‘It’s time to go back to kindergarten!’ Ms. Tremble called out loudly.

‘Little Minim’, the teacher put a hand on her arm, ‘What has happened?’

‘The Elephant has a piano, the Piglet has a flute, and for me - each instrument is too big...’ Mouse began to cry.

‘Sweetheart, music is both for big and small entities. There are so many instruments that everyone can find among them this one, appropriate for them.

Mouse rubbed her eyes with sleeves of her jumper and she went with other pupils to the Ms. Treble’s kingdom, i.e. music room. The teacher looked into a great cabinet full of instruments and pulled out an unusual object...

‘Jumping flea!’ said Ms. Tremble with a twinkle in her eyes. ‘This is the name of this small guitar with four strings that you see. Otherwise: Ukulele.’

‘What a funny name! Where it came from? Can we touch it?’, children were outshouting each other.

‘UKULELE comes from Hawaii. When Hawaiians saw the music playing on this small guitar for the first time, they thought that the musician was twiddling his fingers as fast as jumping flea (in their language-Ukulele). This copy is unique, because it is made from a special type of wood - KOA.

Ms. Treble handed the instrument to Little Minim.

‘Is it for me?’ touched Mouse smiled from ear to ear.

‘Special instrument should go to a special person.’
